AKANKSHA FUTSAL, 2019 – MORE THAN JUST FOOTBALL

The Akanksha Futsal (Mumbai) is a football tournament featuring students from all the schools in Mumbai. Spanned across six age group categories, over 650 students from 10 Mumbai schools participated in the competition this year.

The event provides a stage for all our young champions to display our core Akanksha values on field as well as feel an integral part of the Akanksha network. Football as a sport demands collaboration, belief in teammates, a never give up attitude, respect towards the opponents and most importantly, enjoying the sport. A competitive intra-network tournament provides avenues for showcase the values they learn in the classroom every single day.

Our student Nirjala Sharma delivered the opening address of the event. Nirjala was selected to train with a football club in the United Kingdom. Her address was inspiring and it motivated all the participants to play fair and give in their best.

The tournament spanned across six  categories from children under ages  six to 16. For the students of under six categories  , the game matches were merely a round of penalty kicks. However, all other categories battled it out in full-length games played on state of the art football turfs.

“Football has taught me to give my best every single time. When the matches began, I was nervous but my team members motivated me and I could help my team to secure a win. I realised it is very important to trust your team members and never give up.” Said Pratibha, Grade 5 student.

The Akanksha Futsal 2019 also serves as an opportunity to see our parents watch  their kids in action and cheer for them with pride.

Our immensely talented and hardworking team of sports teachers in the city along with the help of our student leaders ensured smooth execution of the event.
