Three of Akanksha’s Grade 5 students from Laxminagar Mumbai Public School secured the 2019-20 state scholarship organised by the Maharashtra State Education Board annually. Dedicated to fund the educational needs of 5th and 8th grade students in the state, the Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) scholarship includes competitive examinations in 4 subjects – Mathematics, Science, General Knowledge and Language.
Hardwork Always Pays Off!
Typically, Akanksha schools select students with academic potential for the scholarship where teachers work tirelessly throughout the year to prepare them for the examinations. At Laxminagar, 250 children from Grade 5 including vernaculars were selected to participate, out of which 3 students – Masoom Purbey, Varsha Jha and Satyam Thakur won the scholarship. The children were awarded a certificate and cash prize each at the facilitation program to celebrate their efforts and achievement.
“I am feeling very glad about getting this scholarship. I prepared for my exams by firstly preparing a study routine, which I followed regularly. There was time allocated for learning and solving question papers. My school teachers have supported me to go ahead in life. They have cleared my doubts whenever I have asked them,” says Masoom on his approach to preparing for the scholarship.
“I am feeling very happy about getting this scholarship because I had done a lot of hardwork and prepared for this exam. My teachers helped me and they were the one who taught me, they use to take extra classes after school to teach us. Now my parents, my family members and all my teachers are proud of me and are very happy with the results,” adds Varsha on the support she received from the school and her family.
The teachers at Laxminagar went out of their way to conduct additional coaching classes for the aspirants post school in order to prep them for the preliminary examination based on the syllabus and books provided by the government. Given the highly competitive nature of the scholarship, our Akanksha schools have already begun preparations for the upcoming year.
