Our Students Talk Tech With Tim

Last month,  Apple CEO Tim Cook, visited our Sitaram Mill Compound school in Mumbai where he interacted with our teachers and students to understand how they were using technology to learn better.

“Seeing kids In India learn via tech makes my heart sing,”

-Tim Cook

Mr. Cook joined the students in their classrooms, as they used different apps on their iPads and looked through lesson plans for the day. He asked the students how they use technology in their classroom and what impact they felt it was making.

Students of Grade 7 shared how they use apps like Explain Basics and iMovies to create projects on topics like drug addiction, climate change and overpopulation.

Students across grades told him they also use their iPads for grammar revision, reading comprehension and revising nouns.

Nirjala Sharma, an alumni of the school, interacted with Mr. Cook, took him around the school and to different classrooms, explaining how each of them used technology. After the meeting, she told us, “Meeting Mr. Tim Cook was a huge opportunity and privilege for me. He was different from what I’d imagined someone of his stature and success to be. I found him kind, calm, and incredibly humble. It was an unforgettable experience.”
